TIPA is a Mauritian non-governmental and non-profit organization whose mission is to empower vulnerable children to become active citizens in the Mauritian society by favouring their development through the promotion of interactive pedagogy and education to Art and Culture.
Since 2007, TIPA has been working in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, teachers and school staff in ZEP primary schools (priority area schools) to develop innovative teaching strategies.
Values of “respect” and “participation” have been at the centre of TIPA’s intervention since the beginning through the promotion of interactive pedagogy and participative methods. Such values appear central in the development of a multicultural and democratic society as Mauritius. Artistic experience has been chosen as a mean to develop self-esteem and critical thinking and also as a vector for understanding and deepening the construction of our “Mauritian” culture and identity.
